guest blog: fashion astrology in 2020 with closet charmer

In 2020 we’re starting something different. Once a month I’ll be featuring a guest blog, starting with my good friend Michelle Goldfarb, owner of Closet Charmer.

What is fashion astrology? This is a term that was created by studying two separate arts fashion and astrology and then finding a way to combine them into their own platform. Since everyday, the planets change and we have different energies, why not use the cosmos to inter-exchange our clothing choices. In order to understand this, I’m going to break down each one into separate concepts. 

First, fashion can show up in many different ways.  Either through clothing that we wear to express ourselves  or content that we read about. It is evident that fashion has weaved itself into a subculture, which has allowed it to become an outlet for our creativity. This leads us to understand that to have great fashion sense is to create a story through the algorithm of our wardrobe.

Secondly, astrology is a tool used to understand our personality better and navigate our lives with more ease. When someone consults an astrologer they pull up a natal chart, a snap-shot of the sky when you were born. Every chart is different, even amongst twins and it shows your own harmonic resonance that you bring to the world.

When we put these two wonderful concepts into union, we have what I call  fashion astrology. This is best described as using astrology to better express yourself in the world. 

Let me introduce myself, my name is Michelle and I base my practice on what I call “fashion astrology” Because of this concept, I created closet charmer. This service allows me to use astrology to educate people on their wardrobe. As for my background, I have always been involved in fashion throughout my life. My education comes from The Ohio State University and FIDM, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. In school, I learned how to conceptualize my ideas into an art form. This lead me to use these skills and bring them to a retail environment. Through customer service and styling people daily, I started to see how my astrology practice was synchronistically coinciding with my everyday routine . As a practicing astrologer, I use the cosmos daily to understand the energies. Now, as a fashion astrologer I use the cosmos to plan my outfits and through this knowledge I’m presenting to you, you will too.

In fashion astrology there are certain places to look for in a Natal Chart. These are either through the ascendant(how we appear to the world), the Sun( who were becoming) and Venus( How we are expressing ourselves).

The first place to look when analyzing a chart for a fashion astrology experience is with the ascendant. This is how we first appear to the world and our lens that we see through.In order to find the ascendant, we need to know the time we were born. Either you can consult an astrologer or you can go to a free site such as Astro.com. This knowledge will allow you to plug in the information found on your birth certificate to create this specific chart.

The second thing to depict your fashion sense,  is to look at your Sun sign. This is your personality and the embodiment you came here to fulfill. Most people know this because this is the month you were born and it gives an accurate view of your personality and how you’re your showing up.

The third way you can view your self expression is through your Venus. You can find your Venus through your natal chart. It is a little planet that is rules  love and harmony. I like to look at this particular planet for matters of the heart. This can include how we are expressing ourselves in relationship and our views on money.

These are three main ways that we can look at a fashion chart. It’s all about learning how we can be the best version of ourself and have fun while doing it.
