tmm x the container store x thredup: primary closet refresh

Its year two of our partnership with the container store, woot!

If youre new here, our partnership with the container store involves monthly organizing projects, including a custom closet install to highlight all of the incredible storage solutions available at the container store. The partnership is offered to 20 creators, mostly home organizers across the country, so its a huge honor to be chosen 2 years in a row! They are coming out with more sustainable options all the time, so its a perfect match for us to partner and highlight all the things we use and love.

To start it off, with the most perfect timing, a primary closet refresh. When we got back from Scandinavia, I was itching to do a major purge of my closet.

In our rental bungalow. we have 3 teeny closets for clothes- 1 for me in the primary bedroom, 1 for jess in the ‘frog room’, and 1 we share in the office, but mostly its also Jess’ accessories + suits. I have all shoes + clothes in the primary bedroom and we also share 2 small dressers in the bedroom for folded clothes.

We (Jess + I) took a few hours to minimize our clothes together, pulling everything out in the dresser, and sorting what no longer aligns with the life we live today. We then separated out items that we would be able to resell to thredup vs items that would be donated locally. Thredup is a fantastic resource for humans who want to make money off their gently used clothes (women + children clothing only at this time) but dont have the time to resell themselves. All you have to do is pickup a thredup back at the container store, activate the bag + fill it up! For the partnership with tcs, thredup will give you an e-gift card to tcs once your items sell.

You can also order bags from thredup directly, and they’ll offer you a credit towards thredup, or cash. Its a win win all around! Once we separated everything out, we refolded everything konmari style and I repeated the process with my hanging clothing in the closet, bins of folded pants, and in my shoes.

Finally, once all minimizing was complete, it was time for the refresh! A new line at the container store I love is the artisan bin collection. The rattan cane with light wood is perfectly hygge, and encapsulates the tmm spirit.

I also upgraded my hangers to the linen velvet ones I recommend to all my clients. Theyre great because the velvet material really holds onto your clothes, and are super slim so you can fit alot of clothes in a small space.

Last, I upgraded the shoe storage with the marie kondo stackable wood shoe shelves. I love these because they were the perfect size to maximize my small closet, theyre literally 3 pieces, and they stack perfectly. Super minimal + functional. I could fit 4 pairs on each, so with 2 shelves I fit 12 pairs of shoes, which is basically all I own except for hiking shoes + snow boots, which live in the entry closet.

Super easy project to accomplish in a day and it looks so much better now! Highly recommend a summer refresh if youre feeling called!
