It's a tmm garage summer
It’s been a busy summer over here at the modern minimalist and there has been been one organizing project that has been filing the books… GARAGES. You know, the land of long lost tennis rackets and bins of holidays past? Well, this summer we’ve been taking it all on and turning that catch-all space into an organized dream the whole family will love and appreciate.
Amy’s Garage
After a recent move + full home renovation, this space had become the holding ground for all kinds of projects, but the space didn’t really have a purpose. There was alot of potential, so we primarily used what was existing in the space as the priority. Utilizing the pegboard, built in cabinets along the back wall, 2 large shelving units, and the tactix hanging system from the previous home.
First we edited the space, removing extra empty boxes, old home decor, sporting gear, and all kinds of things. We also removed the previous owners wall system in the back corner, and a bookshelf that was taking up most of the pegboard area. Next we utilized the built ins with ikea stackable bins + iris weathertight bins with zones for home utility projects, sports + pets.
Then we utilized 62 oz iris bins to uniformly organize the racks. Next we hung up bikes + scooters using the preexisting tactix system, and added hooks on the pegboard as well as the left hand wall for garden tools + in home tools. Finally a yamazaki shoe rack was added, as well as a few wood hooks to add more wall storage.

2. Brittany’s Garage
Using the Elfa classic storage system in platinum gifted from the Container Store, we were able to take this garage from wasted space, to fully functional multi purpose space. The largest sections of usable wall space had an elfa system created to maximize the space with zones for bikes, shoes, camping chairs, and plenty of open shelving for bin storage. The nook in the back left was turned into a tool zone, with a small elfa hook system installed as well. The back wall kept all camping gear together on their preexisting shelving unit.
All holiday + sporting gear is now on the right side elfa system, and all shoes, home back stock, summer supplies, cleaning products etc are on the left wall.
Photos really don’t do this space justice, but you can also check out the reel I created on the project here.
3. Madison’s Garage
The name of the game in this space was edit edit edit! After having a three year old during the pandemic, this space had become a forgotten place of memories past. It needed a solid edit to reimagine the space to reflect their current lives.
For this project we actually didnt purchase any product. We changed the layout of the space lining up the existing wire shelving units on the left wall, creating more space for the treadmill on the right side, and created a workspace on the back wall. We used hooks found in the garage to hang the bikes in the back right corner, and some large tools in the back left. We even utilized the rafters for some additional large item storage space.

For this space I knew the design was a crucial element. Matching the minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic of their home, I wanted to create a system that was functional and beautiful. So we designed a white elfa classic system, maximizing space on 3 walls in this one car garage. The clients were in Copenhagen for the entirety of this project, so it was a fun challenge to edit while abroad!
We created a bike zone, workbench, plenty of storage space for shoes, clothing, office materials, baby accessories, even a pizza oven! Everything is labeled in iris weathertight bins throughout. As you can see they gained so much space back, and now can fit a car in the garage!
Here’s the reel I created on this all white wonder.
